LFA Sunday Trophy 2009/10

Earlier this evening BFSFA side Quilligans FC were at the County Ground, Leyland attempting to win the most difficult Trophy in Sunday football as they took on top Preston Side AFC Lostock Hall.  AFC Lostock Hall were last season's Preston Sunday league double winners. Here is a brief summary of what happened.

Sixteen seasons ago Mammas FC lifted the Lancashire Sunday Trophy, they were the last side from the BFSFA to do so.  On Friday night (26/03), and now playing as Quilligans FC, they have a great chance of bringing the famous trophy back to the Fylde as they take on top Preston Side AFC Lostock Hall at the County Ground, Leyland (KO 7pm).  AFC Lostock Hall were last season's Preston Sunday league double winners.  Quilligans FC are in fine form after not conceding a goal in their last six games.  In 2007 the club finished runners up in the final against Preston side Arkwrights FC (See picture).  It's a night where the players can make history.  Why not go along and support them in their efforts to win the most sought after Trophy in Sunday football.  Click here for directions to the County Ground.  Good luck to Quilligans FC from Fyldesport.com.

Back in late August approximately 146 sides across the whole of Lancashire set out in the Sunday Trophy.  As we go into March we're now down to only three.  Preston side Lostock Hall FC have already reached the final which will take place at the County Ground in Leyland on the evening of Friday March 26th.  Facing them will be either the Devonshire Arms FC or Quilligans FC from the BFSFA. The two Premier Division sides meet each other in a much anticipated clash on Wednesday night under floodlights at the ground of AFC Blackpool.  Kick off time according to the LFA website is 19:30 (To be confirmed).  Don't miss it.
