Quilligans travelled to the "Kennel" today to take on the Devonshire Arms in a match they had to win to keep the pressure on Poulton at the top of the table.   The Devvy had been a little inconsistent of late being put to the sword 7-1 by The Dunes last Sunday, however, they bounced back midweek to beat Pulcinellas 3-1 at Rossall School.  Quilligans on the other hand beat FC Eden in the Premier Cup on penalties and in midweek beat Hydronics at Thornton Sports Centre.  They had already beaten the Devvy twice this season - 3-1 in the league and also in the semi-final of the LFA Sunday Trophy.

Quilligans opened the scoring in the sixth minute.  Slater made a great run evading his marker and heading home into the corner from a well delivered cross.  Parkinson very nearly made it 2-0, but the Devvy keeper made a smart save to deny him.  Baird also had an excellent chance to double Quilligans lead, but a top drawer block denied him.

The Devvy were knocking the ball about well and playing some good football, but they just couldn't find that vital finishing touch in front of goal.

Quilligans got their second on the half hour, a throw by Morris was flicked on by Evans who turned and latched onto the ball, raced into the area rounded the Devvy keeper and unselfishly squared for Baird who sidefooted home at the far psot.  At the break it was 0-2.

Both sides had good chances to score early on, however, the Devvy comeback was made even more difficult when they were reduced to 10 men.

Quilligans Will Watt - he played well today

Quilligans made it 3-0 when a pinpoint cross from Cook found Spedding who lashed his effort into the corner of the Devvy net.  Cook then had an effort cleared off the line and a Morris volley was superbly saved by the Devvy keeper.
