Sportspy Reports 2009/10

Here are the provisional fixtures for Sunday January 10th.  Be sure to confirm the details with both the opposition and the referee.  If in doubt, please contact Carole Cox.

Just after 9am in sub zero temperatures referee Barry Cropp kindly left his sizzling breakfast/missus to inspect the Edge.  After some prodding and grumbling he decided that as the sun was on it a further inspection nearer to kick off was worth a go.  As such, it will now be down to the individual referees to give the go ahead so all clubs are asked to turn up.  Pitch 6 is more doubtful than the others due to the ruts.

The first fixtures of the new decade.  Here are the provisional fixtures.  Be sure to confirm the details with both the opposition and the referee.  If in doubt, please contact Carole Cox.

If any team fancies squeezing in a league fixture between Christmas and New Year contact fixtures secretary Carole Cox.  Best ensure the whole of your squad is up for it before you commit.  Be aware that no changing facilities will be available.
After six weeks of constant rain we at last had a quiet spell of dry and calm weather with blue skies, mist and cold temperatures.  Those up and about early were met by a 'white out' of frost and the only question was whether or not the thaw would come in time?  It did at Moor Park, Bispham where the Division 2 Cup match between Claremont Cons FC (Bottom) and Great Eccleston FC (Joint top) took place.  Here are a few pictures from the game.

News from 't committee.  Firstly, Division 1 side GE Rushworth FC (Previously known as the Golden Eagle FC) have sadly folded after twenty-three years in the BFSFA.  A lack of commitment by the current crop of players is the primary reason for that tragedy.  Division 3A side St Annes Social FC had high hopes pre season but they've also officially folded due to indisciplined players failing to pay fines to the LFA.  Most of Tiles FC failed to return from a night out in Liverpool recently leaving opponents FC Talbot high and dry as well as a wasted pitch at Blackpool Road, St Annes.  FC Talbot have been awarded a 1-0 win.  Finally, the game between Waterlooo Sports & Social and Spindles was recently abandoned for fighting with the score at 3-3.  The result stands but both have been deducted the point.  All tables have been amended on the Sister Site and Fyldesport's tables will be amended soon.

The rain continued and once again a number of games fell by the wayside but at Commonedge Road eight games went ahead in league and Cup.  Tough conditions for all, cold with a strong wind, sunshine and showers.
