Sportspy Reports 2008/09

Snaps from tonight's BFSFA Presentation Night at Layton Institute.
Earlier in the week we put on a small selection of Phil Heywood's professional pictures from the Quilligans FC v Blackpool Rangers FC match.  Here are all ninety of his photographs in a slideshow.

PS - The league tables, top scorers charts and fair play tables have all been finalised on the site for 2008/09.
Fyldesport.com is aware of the rumours circulating in relation to Quilligans FC having inadvertently fielded an ineligible player during last Friday's emphatic Gledhill Cup win.  We have been asked to clarify the position.  Fyldesport.com can officially confirm that the player was NOT suspended and that the LFA have confirmed their error.  They mistakenly stated on their website that the player was suspended from 01/05/09 when it should have read 11/05/09.  The error not only caused a period of disquiet for Quilligans FC as they faced the real threat of expulsion from the Gledhill competition.  In addition, they were unable to field the player in the important title decider as they were still mistakenly under the impression that said player was still suspended.  We are happy to make this clarification.
It's that time of the year when teams get together for their club presentation nights.  Last weekend double winning Division 2A side FC Eden had theirs in Blackpool and they've sent us a couple of pictures.  If you'd like to share your club presentation night photos with the rest of the planet on fyldesport.com simply E-Mail them to This email address is being protected from spambots. About twice a season we're usually fortunate enough to find local professional photographer Phil Heywood down at one of our grounds taking some 'Sunday Newspaper' quality pictures of Sunday football.  Blackpool FC photographer Phil was at Collins Park yesterday to watch the Premier Division title decider between Quilligans FC and Blackpool Rangers FC.  He's kindly sent us a selection of photo's for publication on fyldesport.com and we're very grateful even though he puts us amateur snappers to shame.
Skye FC are organising a charity football match in memory of a young player who tragically died after a motorbike accident.  The second annual Matthew Jones Memorial Trophy is on Sunday May 17th and will kick off at noon at the Co-op Sports and Social Club, Preston New Road, Blackpool, which has donated its facilities free of charge for the event.
As is usual at this time of the year fyldesport.com begins to receive requests for friendly matches from teams visiting the area.  Here are a couple of examples.  Please remember that before you take up any of these request you should ensure that you've got a pitch sorted and players available.  There's nothing worse than letting visiting sides down.
Quilligans 0, Blackpool Rangers 1 - Blackpool Rangers have won the BFSFA Premier Division thanks to a first half penalty, won and converted by Joe Booth. Match photos now added.
At Kellamergh Park, Warton, AFC Fylde needed a win against New Mills FC to take the North West Counties league Division 1 title.  Could they get it?
